Biography of Reverend Ralph J. Chittams, Sr.

Guided by the foundation of his Christian beliefs, in addition to his vast ministerial experience, Reverend Ralph J. Chittams, Sr., also has in excess of 20 years experience in corporate America. Born and raised in New York City, he moved to Washington, D.C. to attend Howard University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. He has subsequently earned a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from the Maple Springs Baptist Bible College and Seminary, and a Master of Divinity degree from the Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary

In 2001 he was licensed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. On March 4, 2012, Reverend Chittams was ordained to the Gospel Ministry. He now serves as the Pastor at the Landover Hills Baptist Church in Hyattsville, MD.

At his various assignments, Rev. Chittams has worked within the Music, Evangelism, Youth, Shelter, Prison, Christian Education, Outreach, and Men’s Ministries. Reverend Chittams is also an accomplished classical and gospel pianist. He is also well-known as a community and political activist, having served as an elected officer in the District of Columbia Republican Party. Rev. Chittams has also run for office and worked on numerous campaigns. Rev. Chittams was a regular commentator on NewsOne Now with Roland Martin and has appeared regularly on several podcasts, including his own nightly show on SHR Media.

Rev. Chittams is married to his college sweetheart, Patricia L. Howard-Chittams, DNP, FCN AGNP-BC, and this union has been blessed with four children and five grandchildren.

The Scripture verse which guides his ministry is Hosea 4:6a – My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
