Along the way, Snell was a professional basketball referee, in the collegiate ranks and spending three years in the CBA, the minor league for the NBA. He was part of the NBA Referee Development program. Snell also has been elected to public office five times. Basketball and political arena stories are a integral part of his personal faith testimony and his speaking topics. When asked about his avocations of officiating and politics he smiles and says 'I always pick the hobbies where one seems to get heckled the most.'
