From the beginning of her life, Theresa has had many challenges. Being physically disabled since birth, she has adapted to her disabilities in remarkably persistent and adventurous ways. Theresa's faith in Jesus Christ at a young age helped Theresa through a lot of difficult situations, not the least was her father's alcoholism and violent temper. It was traumatic for the entire family. Her father later died when Theresa was fifteen years old.

Theresa’s talks and seminars focus on conquering adversity and purpose in life. She has spoken and sung at a variety of events. Her talks range from motivational, to inspiring to evangelical. Through her experiences, Theresa shares encouragement, hope, and Christian faith. She includes humor, stories, music, and poetry in her presentations.
