BIO:
At age 13, Colleen
was raped by an older male friend of the family. Over the
following four years, she rebelled from authority, abused
alcohol and was truant from school much of the time. At age 17,
she married a man ten years her senior. After the birth of her
daughter, Colleen became drawn to God while her husband pursued
his appetite for illegal drugs, ultimately ending their 5 year
marriage.
Seeking a better life for her and her daughter, Colleen embarked
upon a career as an Army officer. It was during this time of her
life that she met and married her second husband. His excessive
abuse of alcohol fueled his explosive temper. The beatings she
endured at his hand over their 21 month marriage were severe.
After the gun that he held to her temple misfired twice, Colleen
escaped through a miracle provided by God; her life and health
barely in tact.
In the summer of 2001, Colleen’s prayers were finally answered.
God had brought into her life the man that would love her and
rescue her from the demons of her past. After her marriage to
Dan in February 2002, Colleen left the military to pursue other
career goals, one of which was to help women who are and have
been victims of domestic abuse.
Colleen is currently a volunteer speaker for Genesis: A
Place of New Beginnings, a shelter for battered women, and
available full time to the Lord for women's ministries and
speaking engagements. |
