The road to achieving a “life of significance” is often paved with the tears of forgiveness. Known as a woman of tenacious courage and unwavering transparency, Phyllis McWhirter’s life has consisted of trials that would challenge the strongest among us.

As an infant she was abandoned by her mother and left to the care of her alcoholic father. Her childhood was an intense struggle with neglect, rejection, and loneliness causing her to spiral into depression, fear and insecurity. She dreamed of one day sharing a fairytale life of love and security with her mother, but soon realized that fairytales do not always come true.

At the age of eight her hopes and dreams were shattered when word came that her mother overdosed on drugs and alcohol ending her life. This left Phyllis with the continuing challenges of life with an alcoholic father. An encounter with Jesus Christ transformed this hopeless child into a hopeful woman. Phyllis found acceptance and value in knowing that the God of the universe offers wholeness and healing for the emotional scars that torment the wounded soul.

With newfound appreciation for the gift of life, Phyllis determined to live victoriously as she devoured the promises of scripture and developed an intimate relationship with the only perfect Father, Jesus Christ. God has blessed Phyllis with twenty-six wonderful years of marriage, two beautiful daughters, and a burning desire to help fellow strugglers realize freedom from bondage to their past.

The road to wholeness has been an incredible journey that Phyllis recounts with grace and humility as she fulfills her life purpose: sharing the love and healing power of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
