BIO:
My name is Rebecca
Lindsey and I am a country singer/songwriter. As a Christian as
well as a survivor of domestic violence I can tell you that the
biggest thing I regret is the time and energy I spent feeling
misplaced shame, guilt and anger at myself over being fooled
into choosing a husband that was abusive. I had essentially
wasted 4 years of my life after I divorced him struggling with
those emotions rather than using that energy towards something
meaningful and positive. After four long years, through the
grace of God, I made a conscience decision to stop feeling anger
at myself over what had happened thus placing my energy towards
many things including doing what I really love with singing as
well as helping with awareness regarding domestic violence. I
personally believe one of the most helpful things we can do as a
community is implement classes available at public schools
making others aware of the signs and symptoms of abuse as well
as believe in the power of faith. It will not only educate but
help others to recognize the crucial red flags we all normally
ignore or dismiss as ‘someone just having a bad day’. Perhaps I
spent four years regretting so another survivor would hear my
story and realize it is a mistake to blame yourself. Imagine
what you could do once you stop blaming yourself, and start
living. May God bless you.
Since finishing my debut album in June I have recently had
positive meetings with RCA and Broken Bow as well as Warner
Brothers Nashville Record Label. Grammy nominee Charlie Craig,
who co-wrote “Wanted” with and for Alan Jackson as well as won a
nomination for 'song of the year' for Reba McEntire's "She's
Single Again", was my Producer as well as one of the songwriters
on my album. The album was recorded at EMI and Chris Latham,
Trisha Yearwood's ex-husband, was my engineer. For the last
year, prior to my album being completed, my demo of “On the
fourth of July” has been played in over a thousand radio
stations world-wide and in nine states. I have been interviewed
by several radio stations including Y107FM, NIXA, WBTN in New
York as well as been on PAX TV in Nashville and the Gene
Williams Show in Branson, Missouri, which is nationally
syndicated, to name a few. I have been involved with several
charitable organizations including when I was a Big Sister at
Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the National Coalition Against
Domestic Violence as well as UHaul are both endorsers and
promoters for my album. I am also a motivational guest speaker
at events for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
On Oct. 26 I will be a guest speaker in New York for the
National Coalition and on Nov. 11 I will be donating my time to
perform at the Eternal Monument Light Ceremony for the Veteran's
Day Parade representing UHaul in New York as well.
It has been my goal to give back to the Christian community and
especially help organizations like the National Coalition
Against Domestic Violence. I also feel led to help and inspire
others through my music. What could any other victims do once
they stop blaming themselves and start living?
God bless you.
