BIO:
Eric Chaffin is an
ordained minister and Chairman-Founder of 3:14 Ministries, Inc.,
whose purpose is to lead athletes, students, sports fan and more
to a deeper relationship with Christ. As the name suggests, 3:14
Ministries is based upon Philippians 3:14, which says, “I press
on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in
Christ Jesus.” Since 1992, Eric Chaffin has been speaking to
children, teens, singles, college students, men’s groups,
churches, civic clubs, and other groups, numbering from 6 to
6000. Whether it’s been drug prevention lectures, crusades, team
chapels or Monday Night Fellowship bible studies, Eric’s
messages have always been relevant, dynamic and scripturally
sound.
In addition to his
work with 3:14, Eric spent twelve years with the SANE ministry,
a faith-based morals education program. He joined the staff of
SANE in 1992, and in 2001 was named Executive Director. Eric’s
work with SANE afforded him the opportunity to preach and teach
all over Oklahoma, including stops at Falls Creek Assembly in
1994 and 1995, and Children’s Falls Creek from 1995 through
2000. Eric’s love of sports is often evident in his preaching
and teaching, and he recognizes the effectiveness of expressing
Biblical themes in athletic terms. He has penned a sports-themed
devotional book entitled, Finish Strong: Tackling Life Head On.
He serves as the team chaplain for the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz
arena football team, and since 1998, he has been the coordinator
of the Monday Night Fellowship ministry of Eagle Heights Church
in Oklahoma City. Prior to his call to go “in SANE,” Eric spent
a number of years working in radio, utilizing his talents in
programming, production and as an on-air personality. His most
memorable radio moments came as one half of the morning team of
“Smith & Wesson” on KOLT 106 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. While
in Albuquerque, Eric won local and regional “Addie” awards for
best commercial spot. He also performed in five musical
productions with the Albuquerque Civic Light Opera, garnering
lead roles in three of them. In 1987, Eric graduated from
Southwest Baptist University with a degree in Communication and
a minor in Biblical Studies. While at SBU, Eric earned national
awards of excellence in Speech, and an Outstanding Performance
Award for his role in the biblical drama, Gideon. Eric has an
additional diploma in Biblical Studies from Liberty University’s
Institute of Biblical Studies.
Eric lives in
Moore, Oklahoma with his wife, Kristi, and their four children:
Ryan, Ben, Katie and Luke. In High School, Eric shot an amazing
15% from the free throw line and ran the 40-yard dash in
4.4…minutes!
