BIO:
Rick is the Senior
Pastor of a church in the northwest Houston area. He has
successfully helped transition a traditional church into a more
missional church, set to meet the culture of the day in a
relevant way with the story of Jesus.
Rick holds a Master of Divinity degree but more importantly has
taught the Scriptures for 25 years in full time ministry
situations: large group settings, small group, and one on one.
His training includes internships with Max Lucado, Lynn Anderson
(of Hope Network Ministries), and Jim Herrington (of Mission
Houston).
He has spoken at other churches in the Houston area,
Lectureships at Abilene Christian University and Pepperdine
University, and youth retreats. He is well connected with
churches in the Northwest Houston area and serves as the point
person for the Tomball Ministerial Alliance.
Rick’s passion is to see people and churches become disciples of
Jesus. He believes the path involves the taking up of a cross
and a dying to self. That is not a popular message in the
Western church culture, but he believes it is the one Jesus
taught and modeled. He speaks in a conversational tone about
Jesus, interspersing humor and academics without calling
attention to either.
Rick has been married to Karen for twenty-one years and has two
sons: Kristofer, age 18, and Taylor, age 16.
Rick's first book is entitled The X-odus Files: Following God in
an Alien Land.
